Hydration Rules
Correct hydration has more to do with good health than most people consider. Remember it is systematic drinking of the correct amount of pure water that is the secret. Over or Under Hydration will reduce your Hydration Score. Look at your results sheet to determine your recommended dosage per half hour. Usually this is about 3-4 mouthfuls. The absolute best water is steam distilled. It is not always practical or convenient to obtain steam distilled water so the compromise is the best quality and most mineral free water that you can afford. And any water is better than none!
Lemon water is a very powerful detox agent and digestive aid. The Reams method is to mix one part FRESHLY squeezed FRESH lemon (nothing else is suitable) to 9 parts of steam distilled water. If you mix this at breakfast, then sip the lemon water every other half hour with pure water on the hour you are on the best hydration and detox regime. If Carbs are low and you are using sweetened water it is best to use the sweetener in your lemon water. CAUTION: If your salts are high (above 25C) lemon water should NOT be used, until you get your salts back under 25C. Consult your Practitioner.
Hydration Cautions and Sugar Rules
If at any time, your carbs fall below 1.2 it is time to pay very close attention. You need to monitor your carb reading very closely during this period (multiple times per day is recommended). If your Brix reading (Refractometer) drops below 2 then add a sweetener to your water. (Two Tablespoons of a natural sweetener – Maple Syrup, Honey, Molasses etc. Rotate between at least 3 different sweeteners, one per day) If your reading drops below 1.5, have some fruit and if you drop below 0.5 you are in a dangerous low sugar zone – any sugar is recommended even a half of teaspoon of white sugar under the tongue.
